Popular Movies

What is Movie World?

Movie World is a free-to-browse catalogue of 126,583 movies and TV series that shows what each title is about, how TMDB users rate it and, where data exists, where to stream, rent or buy it. It lists 99,059 movies and 27,524 series across 27 genres, with all title data from The Movie Database (TMDB).

Every title page brings the essentials together: the overview, release year, runtime, genres, main cast, the official trailer and links to the title's TMDB entry and, where known, its IMDb page. Movie World does not host video. It is a guide that points you to the services that do.

72,667 titles joined the catalogue in the last 30 days. New entries come from TMDB's popular, top-rated, upcoming, now-playing and trending lists, which Movie World re-reads every 12 hours.

Movies are the most powerful empathy machine in all the arts. When I go to a great movie I can live somebody else's life for a while.

— Roger Ebert, Film Critic at the Chicago Sun-Times, remarks at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, June 2005

How to find where to watch a movie or series

Open the title's page on Movie World and find the where-to-watch table. It shows which services stream, rent or sell that title in up to 10 countries, based on JustWatch data supplied through TMDB. Titles without any provider data simply show no table. The five steps below take under a minute.

  1. Find the title: use the search box at the top of any page, or browse all movies, all series, genres, years or A–Z.
  2. Open its page to see the overview, year, runtime, genres, cast and TMDB score.
  3. Read the where-to-watch table: Stream lists services where the title is included with a subscription or free, while Rent and Buy list one-off purchases.
  4. Watch the official trailer on the same page before you commit.
  5. Open the service in its own app or website to start watching. Catalogues change often, so check the provider before subscribing.

Where-to-watch data: JustWatch, via TMDB. Each table covers up to 10 of 22 tracked markets, starting with the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Why is a title not streaming in my country?

Streaming rights are sold country by country, so the same film can be on one service in the United States, on a different one in the United Kingdom and on none at all in Germany. Each row of the where-to-watch table is one country, and an empty Stream cell means no subscription service carries the title there right now.

How to choose what to watch

Start with the TMDB score, but read it together with the number of votes behind it: a 7.5 from 20,000 votes tells you far more than a 9.0 from 12. Then narrow by genre, watch the trailer and read the overview. Lists help you start; your own taste should finish the choice.

What does a TMDB score mean?

It is the average of all votes TMDB users have cast for the title, on a scale from 0 to 10, shown to one decimal place. The more votes behind it, the more it tells you.

Popular or top rated?

Popular means many people are looking at a title on TMDB right now; top rated means TMDB users have scored it highly over time. New releases dominate popular lists, while top-rated lists lean towards older, widely seen films. Use the first to see what is current and the second to catch up.

Where do new releases show up first?

Films about to open appear in TMDB's upcoming list, and films in cinemas appear in its now-playing list. Movie World reads both every 12 hours, so a new release usually has its own page here before it reaches any streaming service, and the where-to-watch table fills in once services start offering it.

Curating isn’t undemocratic or “elitist,” a term that is now used so often that it’s become meaningless. It’s an act of generosity—you’re sharing what you love and what has inspired you.

— Martin Scorsese, Film Director, writing in Harper’s Magazine (“Il Maestro”), March 2021

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about Movie World: where to stream a title, which countries the where-to-watch data covers, what is free, how ratings are calculated, how often the catalogue changes and whether any video is hosted here. Every answer reflects how the site works as of November 2, 2026.

How do I find where to stream a movie or series?

Open the title's page on Movie World, from search or any list, and check the where-to-watch table. It shows which services stream, rent or sell the title in up to 10 countries, based on JustWatch data supplied through TMDB. If there is no table, no tracked service currently offers the title in those countries.

Which countries does the where-to-watch information cover?

Movie World tracks 22 markets: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, India, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Türkiye, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Each title page shows up to 10 of them, keeping this order and skipping countries where no service offers the title.

Is Movie World free to use?

Yes. Browsing, search, title pages, trailers and where-to-watch information are free.

How are the ratings on Movie World calculated?

The score on each title is the average of TMDB user votes on a 0–10 scale, updated whenever the title's data is refreshed from TMDB. A high average from only a handful of votes is less reliable than a slightly lower one from thousands.

How often is the catalogue updated?

Movie World re-reads TMDB's popular, top-rated, upcoming, now-playing and trending lists every 12 hours, and any new title found there joins the catalogue automatically. 72,667 titles were added in the last 30 days.

Does Movie World host any videos?

No. Movie World stores information about titles, not video files. Trailers play from YouTube, and any external link points to a service or server run by someone else.

Can I watch the trailer on Movie World?

Yes. When TMDB lists an official trailer for a title, it plays on the title's page through YouTube, so you can watch it before deciding. If there is no official trailer, the page uses another trailer or a teaser where one is available.

Can I search by actor?

Yes. The search box at the top of every page looks up movies, TV series and people together. Typing an actor's name lists the titles that actor is best known for, alongside any movie or series whose name matches.
